FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No - You do not need a referral from a GP to see a speech pathologist or occupational therapist. You can give us a call if you have any questions or concerns and we would be happy to assist you and guide you whether your child may benefit from an assessment and/or support.

Your child may be eligible to receive a Chronic Disease Management Plan from your GP which entitles them to a Medicare rebate of up to 5 speech or occupational therapy sessions per calendar year. You will need to speak to your GP regarding this plan.

How long will my child see a speech pathologist for?

Each child’s needs are unique and individual so it is important to discuss this with your child’s therapist. We value ongoing communication with families and will ensure we are discussing your child’s ongoing progress and goals.

How long do sessions go for?

We offer 30, 45 and 60 minute therapy sessions. Based on your child’s needs, our speech pathologists will discuss with you their recommendations for the length and frequency of therapy sessions to help your child achieve their goals and results.

What funding options are available to use at Bambini Health?

We currently accept the following funding supports:

  • Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plan (otherwise known as Chronic Disease Management Plan) to provide a Medicare rebate for up to 5 sessions per calendar year. You will need a form completed by your child's GP.

  • Private Health Insurance

  • NDIS – Self Managed and Plan managed clients

What can I expect to see when I come in to Bambini Health?

At Bambini Health, we aim to provide a warm and welcoming space for families to feel safe and heard. You can expert your first appointment to be an assessment and observation of your child’s needs. Your therapist may use a range of assessment tools as well as have a discussion with caregivers to gather information to best understand the needs of your child. Your therapist will then discuss the outcomes of this assessment and recommendations for your child. They will collaborate with those important to the child (e.g. preschool teachers) to then establish a therapist plan with individual goals.

If your child requires ongoing therapy, you can expect each session to be tailored to your child’s needs and goals. During therapy, our therapists will use games, play and your child’s interests to motivate them while learning. There will be a range of strategies discussed to practise throughout the week and ongoing discussion about your child’s progress. There will be opportunities to problem solve any concerns you may have.
