Meet Mel
Occupational Therapist
I definitely enjoy having a mixed area of practice. I am learning so much every day but am finding sensory-related behaviours really interesting and can't wait to explore this area further. I also have a strong interest in supporting children with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential. What draws me to these areas is the process of taking the time to understand each child's ability and needs and then use that insight to tailor therapy to best support their development. I see patience as a powerful tool and giving them time and space can often bring out their best!

It’s such a privilege to support children and families. When they have their wins and you get to be a part of that journey, it truly feels like you’re making a meaningful difference. Even though life can be a little more challenging for some children and families, their positivity and resilience are genuinely inspiring. Being able to walk alongside them and celebrate their progress is one of the best parts of this work.
About me
Mel enjoys working across a broad and varied area of paediatric occupational therapy, and she loves the opportunity to continually learn and grow alongside the children and families she supports. Mel has developed a strong interest in sensory processing and sensory-related behaviours, and she is particularly curious about understanding how sensory experiences influence a child’s behaviour, participation, and emotional responses. She is passionate about continuing to explore this area of practice and using her growing knowledge to better support children in their everyday environments.

Mel also has a strong interest in supporting children with intellectual disabilities, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to reach their full potential. She enjoys taking the time to carefully understand each child’s unique abilities, strengths, and support needs, and then using this insight to tailor therapy in a way that feels meaningful and achievable for them. Mel believes that patience is a powerful therapeutic tool, and she values giving children the time, space, and encouragement they need to show their capabilities and experience success.

Mel originally began her journey with Bambini Health as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, where she worked closely with therapists supporting children during therapy sessions and implementing therapy programs. Through this experience, she developed strong practical skills and a deep understanding of the children and families we support. She later transitioned into her role as an Occupational Therapist, bringing with her valuable hands-on experience and a strong appreciation for collaborative care.

Mel feels incredibly privileged to support children and their families. She finds it deeply rewarding to celebrate the wins—big and small—alongside the families she works with, and to be part of each child’s journey as they develop new skills and confidence. While she recognises that life can sometimes present additional challenges for children with disabilities and their families, she is continually inspired by their positivity, resilience, and determination. Walking alongside families and celebrating their progress is one of the aspects of this work that Mel values most.
