Feeding Therapy Journey
Bambini Health's Feeding Clinic offer a number of Feeding Therapy Services to support children and adolescents from 12 months of age, to develop a positive relationship with food and mealtimes.
Our passionate feeding therapists are qualified to provided support with a range of feeding and mealtime challenges including, but not limited to:

Picky or fussy eating behaviours (e.g. eating a limited range of foods or drinks)

Food refusal, or aversions or unwillingness to accept new foods/food textures
-
Children with diagnosed or suspected nutritional deficiencies (e.g. iron deficiency)

Children presenting with sensory challenges during mealtimes
-
Children who are observed to not sit at the table during mealtimes

Initial Referral
Speak with your child's therapist or connect with our friendly Client Care team.

Fill out a Client Background Questionnaire
You will be emailed a digital questionnaire to provide our Feeding Therapy team with further details about your family goals and concerns related to your child's feeding therapy journey.

Note: This form is different to the initial case history questionnaire that your child's feeding therapist will ask you to fill out in the lead up to your assessment.

Check-in with our Feeding Therapy Lead
Our Feeding Therapy Lead will provide a brief client nurturing call to answer any initial questions you may have about commencing on your child's feeding therapy journey, and ensure all key information is gathered.

You will also receive an email detailing 'next steps', as well as some general education strategies to consider while waiting to receive your child's initial feeding or goal-setting session!

Attend your assessment or goal setting session
Our Client Care team will book you in for one of the following services based on your child's current needs:
COMPREHENSIVE FEEDING THERAPY ASSESSMENT
A comprehensive 90 minute Feeding Therapy Assessment sessions with one of our trained Feeding Therapists will be booked in if your child has not previously accessed feeding therapy services before.
The following will be completed as part of your assessment:
1) You will complete an in-depth case history form which will be emailed to you at least 1 week prior to attending your face-to-face in-clinic feeding assessment.
2) You will complete a 3-day diet history form detailing what your child currently eats across the week. You will be able to complete this the week prior to your assessment and share this with your therapist on the day of your assessment.
3) You will be asked to fill in a food inventory form detailing what your child eats and drinks across all core food groups.
4)You will complete a Sensory Profile so your therapist can understand your child's individual sensory needs and consider these in the context of feeding.
5) When attending your child's feeding assessment, your therapist will follow up with a thorough case history, reviewing all information you have provided (e.g. questionnaires, diet history form, food inventory form etc.).
6) Your child's feeding therapist will observe your child eating a range of at least three preferred foods and at least three non-preferred foods. These are foods you will provide from home as usually bought or prepared.
Your feeding therapist will consider your child's oral motor skills, sensory preferences, postural support, drinking skills, fine and gross motor skills, social skills related to feeding, and more!
7) Your child's feeding therapist will provide you with key recommendations on the day of the assessment, as well as provide you will a comprehensive report which you are encouraged to share with your child's multidisciplinary healthcare team within 2-3 weeks of your assessment.

8) We can then commence the exciting journey of feeding therapy together! Your child's feeding therapist will discuss a range of feeding therapy options which may work best for your family, which you can discover more about by exploring the links below.

GOAL SETTING SESSIONS
If your child has received a feeding assessment from a qualified healthcare practitioner within the last 6-12 months, you will have the opportunity to discuss your child's feeding concerns and goals in a 60 minute goal setting session with one of our experienced feeding therapists. The following will need to be completed prior to a goal-setting sessions:

1) You will complete a 3-day diet history form detailing what your child currently eats across the week. You will be able to complete this the week prior to your session, and share this with your therapist on the day of your appointment.

2) You will be asked to fill in a food inventory form detailing what your child eats and drinks across all core food groups.

3) You will complete a Sensory Profile so your therapist can understand your child's individual sensory needs and consider these in the context of feeding.

4) When attending your child's feeding assessment, your therapist will complete a thorough case history, reviewing all information you have provided (e.g. questionnaires, diet history form, food inventory form etc.).

5) Your child's feeding therapist will provide you with key recommendations based on your family's feeding therapy goals and presenting concerns.

We also kindly ask that you please send through any relevant reports from healthcare professionals (e.g. Dietitian, ENT, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Paediatrician etc.) to our client care at least 1 week prior to your child's feeding assessment or goal setting session.
