FEEDING CLINIC FAQs

Unsure if our Feeding Therapy Service is right for you? Read some of our Frequently Asked Questions below!

01

What does Feeding Therapy 'look' like?

Our feeding therapy sessions are designed to be supportive, fun and educational for you and your child! At Bambini Health we offer both in-clinic support as well as telehealth sessions for your convenience. Our therapists may also be able to facilitate preschool/school feeding observation and assessment sessions.

Every feeding therapy session is tailored to you and your child's needs, but typically contains 4 main components:

1) A pre-feeding routine (e.g. hygiene maintenance, postural support and sensory-emotional regulation activities)

2) Hands-on food play and development of feeding skills.

3) Post-mealtime routine (e.g. cleaning up together and hand-washing).

4) Summary of session achievements, discussion of a plan for subsequent sessions and caregiver education.

02

How long is my child expected to participate in feeding therapy?

Every child and family is unique, therefore every child's feeding therapy journey will look a little different depending on your family's needs and goals. At Bambini Health, we strongly encourage families to book in for a 10-week block of either individual and/or group therapy at a time before reflecting on and celebrating their progress made-to-date as part of our quarterly feeding therapy progression sessions with your child's feeding therapist. It is common for child to benefit from multiple 'blocks' of feeding therapy made of either individual and/or group therapy, as well as parent coaching sessions.

03

Can my child access NDIS Funding for Feeding Therapy?

In short, yes - the NDIS can support your child to access feeding therapy services. You can speak with your child's feeding therapist during the assessment or goal-setting process to help determine their eligibility for this.

Funding is accessed under either SP or OT umbrella. At Bambini Health all our feeding therapists are registered SP or OT's.
